PARIS+ PAR ART BASEL 2022
FROM BAUHAUS TO REALITES NOUVELLES
Galerie Le Minotaure was created in 2002 by Benoit Sapiro, a member of the Compagnie Nationale des Experts and of the Comité Professionnel des Galeries d’Art, and vice-president of the Photo Saint Germain festival. It is located on the former site of the famous Surrealist bookshop of the same name. Like its director, the gallery specialises in the artists of the School of Paris and in the avant-gardes of Central and Eastern Europe, from the 1910s to the 1960s.
During the first edition of the new art fair Paris+ by Art Basel, through leading artists of the gallery, we will give a review of the main trends of the European avant-garde of the first half of the 20th century and in particular of the movements engaged in the defense of geometric and non-geometric abstraction.
We will present in particular the works of the masters of the Bauhaus (Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy), the rare neo-plastic canvases of Jean Hélion (1930) and César Domela (1926) close to the De Stijl movement, as well as a wide selection of artists from groups such as Cercle et Carré and Abstraction Création (Hans Arp, Auguste Herbin, Frantisek Kupka, Joaquin Torres-Garcia, Istvan Beothy, Léon Tutundjian, Carl Buchheister).
