ART BASEL

19-22 June 2026

For the 2025 edition of Art Basel, Galerie Le Minotaure proposes a project around different faces of geometric abstract art from the first half of the 20th century through its main movements: constructivism, art concret, abstraction creation, neoplasticism and artists who have marked its history: Jean Arp, Étienne Béothy, César Domela, Frantisek Kupka, Fernand Léger, Léon Tutundjian, and in particular Laszlo Moholy-Nagy who will have a special place on our booth.

We will present an ensemble of 7 pieces by Moholy-Nagy representing his work at the forefront of abstraction ; his unconventional use of industrial materials (Space Modulator,1943-45,  oil on plexiglass ; Zweiton 1945 oil on plexiglas); his experiments with light, transparency, space, and motion across mediums, especially in painting from the Chicago period (CH 14B Variation of a Rh Picture, 1938 ; CH 4, 1938 ; CH Space 6, 1941), but also in photomontage (Murder on the Railway Line, 1925, photocollage) and cameraless photography(Untitled,1925, photogram).

Among major artworks displayed on our booth we count an early neoplastic painting by Cesar Domela (Composition n° 5K, 1926) and an important oil painting by Frantisek Kupka from the late abstraction cration period (Alternances, 1935).
Our presentation will be completed by a series of works of paper by Jean Arp (Geometric collage, 1916), Fernand Léger (Elements mecaniques, 1918) and Frantisek Kupka (3 gouaches from 1930s), and a sculpture by the Hungarian, Etienne Béothy.

The medium of relief, as used by Arp, Béothy or the Armenian, Léon Tutundjian, will be presented as a sort of bridge between different figurative practices and abstraction.
