On the occasion of the 2023 edition of the PhotoSaintGermain Festival, Le Minotaure gallery presents the exhibition of one of the main protagonists of Italian abstract art, Luigi Veronesi (1908-1998), painter, photographer, scenographer and director abstract experimental films; member of the group Abstraction Création (1934) then, after the Second World War, of the group of photographers La Bussola (1947) and of the Milanese Movimiento Arte Concreta (M. A. C).
The exhibition will resemble the works of the first part of Veronesi’s career (1930s and 1940s): abstract photographs, photograms that he discovered at the same time as Man Ray, Christian Schad or Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, collages, but also fragments of photographic films painted by the artist as part of his cinematographic experiments.
While showing the variety and originality of the Italian’s work in the field of photography and cinema, this set will connect the artist to the aesthetics of constructivism and highlight his affinities with the masters of Bauhaus.
