TEFAF MAASTRICHT 2023
For the 2023 edition of TEFAF Maastricht, Galerie Le Minotaure is offering an exhibition around Guillaume Apollinaire’s avant-garde magazine Le Soirées de Paris which was reborn in 1913 thanks to the financing of his new Russian friends: Baroness Hélène d’ OEttingen (also known as François Angiboult, Roch Gray or Léonard Pieux) and Serge Férat. Their apartment, located at 229 boulevard Raspail, then became the headquarters of the magazine where the artistic and literary avant-gardes of the time met, notably the cubists, the futurists, the representatives of the dada movement and the future surrealists. In 1920, with Léopold Survage, they also formed the core of the second Salon de la Section d’Or.
On our stand, we will therefore be showing an important set of works by Férat, Angiboult, and Survage, notably Férat’s costume and set projects for Apollinaire’s surrealist drama Les Mamelles de Tirésias and Survage’s Rythmes Colorfules, being drawings planned for an animated film on the evolution of shapes and colors.
This set will be completed by the important works of the artists meeting in the Baroness’s salon: Louis Marcoussis (a cubist glass painting), Fernand Léger (a drawing from his mechanical period), Serge Charchoune (purist still lifes), Vladimir Baranoff-Rossiné (oils on cubo-futurist canvases). A separate part will be devoted to theater: apart from the projects for Les Mamelles de Tirésias we will show those of Mikchaïl Larionov and Natalia Gontcharova, of Sonia Delaunay (for the ballet Cléopâtre) as well as the dolls/puppets of Marie Vassilieff.
